May 2018 LEAD Turkish Chapter Event
LEAD Network Turkey Chapter hosted a keynote speaker Bahar Ozurun, General Manager of Kasap Doner, at its monthly meeting on May 3rd, 2018.
Kasap Doner, originally a butcher shop, started in 1946, turned into a successful nationwide meat restaurant chain. Bahar Ozurun, has a Bachelor of Management Engineering degree and MBA from Istanbul Technical University. After working at software, export, import sectors, she found her passion in retail.
Ozurun shared the challenges she had to overcome as a mother of two. She explained how thanks to her husband being always very supportive, they both managed to grow their relationship, with children, even though they worked apart for many years. They always strive to have quality time together as well as with their children. Ozurun’s daughter Irem, now 18, was at the LEAD Network meeting to support her mother and expressed her gratitude towards her parents as she never felt left alone despite both parents pursuing powerful careers.
Ozurun explained the key to her success is being invested in technology and future-forward thinking. She always moved forward sound and fast by being progressive in what she did and sought out ways of improving business models via technology. Her most recent implementation is the bitcoin payment at Kasap Doner stores and Block-Chain. Ozurun believes that the companies as well as the professionals that adapt technology to their work will succeed in future. Finally, Ozurun shared her tip to the 50 plus members present at the meeting “never think that women do not understand the technology cliché, we do”.
