NEW Executive Institute 2018 – A Leadership Development Experience for Women Executives

The LEAD Network interviews Subarna Malakar, Vice President, Global Diversity & Inclusion, Ahold Delhaize on NEW’s Executive Institute and the value it brings to Ahold Delhaize.

What is the Network of Executive Women (NEW) Executive Institute?

The NEW Executive Institute is an intensive leadership development course designed to empower, engage and advance executive women in the retail, consumer goods and services industry. Participants benefit from real-world experience and case studies, the latest academic research, executive coaching and industry knowledge-sharing.

How is Ahold Delhaize involved in the Institute?

NEW and Ahold Delhaize have a long partnership, commencing from NEW’s inception. Hundreds of Ahold Delhaize associates are NEW members, and many have served as NEW leaders. This partnership is a model of how industry organizations can work with NEW.

Ahold Delhaize and NEW collaborate on two NEW signature learning programs – NEW Rising Stars and the NEW Executive Institute. These two programs have helped develop the careers of hundreds of industry executives and are based on the NEW Career Accelerator Model. Ahold Delhaize has contributed its expertise and enrolled its women executives in these programs. Ahold Delhaize also hosts two international sessions of the NEW Executive Institute at their world headquarters outside Amsterdam.

What value does Ahold Delhaize get by participating in the Institute?

Many women seeking career advancement don’t have women in their lives that can serve as professional peers and confidantes –“real models” – who can empathize with their journeys and provide support.

The one-of-a-kind learning, such as the NEW Executive Institute, allows our female leaders to expand their capacity, develop new strategies, leverage networks and improve business intelligence in the retail, consumer goods and services industries.

The last two years, we had the privilege to spend time with such a wonderful group of talented female executives and to be a part of their intensive leadership development experience designed to empower, engage and advance executive women. I found the experience to be rewarding, fulfilling and reciprocating. I was inspired by their thought leadership and commitment to make a difference within their respective businesses and across industries. What a way to network, share best practices and grow – personally and professionally!
