May 2018 Committee Spotlight – LEAD Advisory Board

LEAD Advisory Board sets the course for 2021

We are delighted to report to our LEAD Network Members that the LEAD Advisory Board and Steering Committee have been working hard on your behalf focusing on the future LEAD Network plans and ensuring we have the right vision, strategies, plans, staffing and enabling systems for the future.

Our April meeting in Paris was action packed as we met with the Chairs of each of the Committees to review and provide input into plans for the next 12 months. We thank Tanya Kopps, CEO Metro Italy, who is Chairing the LEAD Steering Team and providing outstanding guidance across all the LEAD Committees.

We are excited to report that aggressive plans are in place for the Chapter expansions as we recently launched the LEAD Switzerland Chapter in May and are expanding to a new Chapter in the Netherlands in June. Under the leadership of Marie Lalleman, EVP Nielsen and Cecilie Westh, Managing Director Nielsen Nordics who are Chairing our Chapters, we are preparing a “tool kit” to aid in the sharing of what works best while supporting the cultural diversity of each Country Chapter.

The LEAD Education Committee led by Christina Taylor, along with the 2018 LEAD Conference Committee, have focused the LEAD Network training and development programming under the umbrella of “Diversity and Inclusion: Doing not Trying”. We will build upon the Gender Diversity Scorecard results to share best practices and a maturity matrix to help our Partner companies and members in the coming months.

The LEAD Membership Committee under the guidance of Peter Beets, LEAD Membership Chair and P&G Finance Director has set a target of 3,500 LEAD Network members this year. The objective of the Membership Committee is to find new ways to better engage our members via more focused affinity groups be they functional or by member interests. The Membership Committee is reaching out via the online survey and other ways to get input and alignment for the LEAD Network plans.

The LEAD Marketing Committee ably led by Fiona Liebehenz, Senior Manager Amazon EU, has developed a comprehensive plan to fully capitalize on all social media tools to amplify our LEAD Network message and better reach our members and non-members.

The LEAD Fundraising Committee has plans to double our revenues in 2018 to ensure we have the financial resources and staff support to help us achieve our ambitious plans for the next few years.

The LEAD Advisory Board is providing valuable strategic guidance under the leadership of Veronika Pountcheva, SVP METRO AG as we complete our 2021 action plans. The vision is that the LEAD Network plays an even larger role as the “voice of the Industry” on Diversity and Inclusion and that we help our members and companies in this transformation.

The “CEO Pledge” has gained momentum since we first introduced in November 2017 under the leadership of our CEO Sponsor Franz Mueller, Deputy CEO of Ahold Delhaize. We currently have several CEOs in the CPG and Retail Industry in Europe who have signed the pledge. We are learning and will share in the future what actions each company has taken to accelerate female advancement and retention in their respective companies.
