Second LEAD Network German Chapter meetup “Mischen is Possible – Diversity drives Innovation” in Düsseldorf

The second LEAD German Chapter networking event was a great success with a great location, great food and inspiring speakers. This time hosted in Duesseldorf by Sipgate, a local telecommunication company. Gabriele Riedmann de Trinidad, LEAD Germany Chapter Chair, was joined by 28 participants, including a lot of new faces and LEAD members from Metro, Sealed Air, DB Schenker and Kalypso. Sharon, Mick and Jessica were also among the participants.

Sipgate introduced us to their ways of working agile and lean, meaning practically no hierarchy, decisions driven out of the team, even the hiring and firing process. All participants valued these great insights.

Our speakers this time were Tijen Onaran, founder of Women-in-Digital, a non-profit organization, which brings women of digital industries together. She talked about how to build a strong professional network, how important it is to have supporters and people with different backgrounds and characters and that there has to be a balance of giving and taking to making the network a success.

Our second speaker was Johan Tideman, Lead Client Adviser at EDGE Strategy, a global company that assesses and certifies companies on their advancements in workplace gender equality. So far they have certified 100 organizations across 40 countries over 22 industries. Johan spoke about the process behind the certification and the different elements that are assed such as gender-equal pay, recruitment process, leadership development, flexible working and company culture.

The evening then concluded in a networking session with a lot of great discussions.

Gaby Riedmann de Trinidad of Metro is looking forward to welcoming LEAD members to one of the next networking events. Current plans involve the upcoming event to take place in Frankfurt. More details to come.
