Inspired by the Network of Executive Women in the United States, Mick Broekhof, Managing Partner Kalypso, Secretary & Co-Founder of the LEAD Network, found there was a need for an organization with similar vision and mission in Europe. In the Autumn of 2011, he organized a first meeting with 13 European female executives from his network. In 2014, LEAD Network was officially established in the Netherlands as a non-profit foundation.
Helayne Angelus, Partner, Kalypso & Chair of the LEAD Network Advisory Board is a co-Founder of the LEAD Network. Helayne says, “Both retailers and manufacturers have similar challenges – women in the upper echelons of their organisations do not have the opportunity to regularly share and create business opportunities. And they lack ready access to role models and training. LEAD Network was created to provide this community, to share learning about leadership from others and ultimately to drive business development among its membership.”
What started with a group of 13 Charter members has grown into a network with 4,200+ members (January 2019), 120 volunteers, 17 committees, 7 country chapters, all working together to bring LEAD’s mission to life.
