LEAD Germany Chapter Networking Event
Diversity at Work: Myth vs. Reality
22nd August 2018 – Frankfurt

Diversity at Work: Myth vs. Reality

“Women lack self-confidence.” “Women do not want to make a career anyway.” “There are not enough qualified women.” Three typical examples of myths that are related to women in professional life.

Why is it that these myths are so stubbornly engrained? After all, today there are more female role models than ever. Women make careers and they are supported – by men and women. So why can’t we eliminate these myths? What is clear is that these myths about women harm our economy. Women today are just as well educated as men. The promotion of women in their professional development has had a macroeconomic benefit. In other words, we also need the women in our companies!

Change in mind-set

What can we do to bring awareness to these myths? Together with the non-profit organization LEAD Network and the magazine Plan W of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, we will discuss these topics at our workshop “Diversity at work: Myths vs. Reality” in Frankfurt. Through this discussion, our objective is to contribute to changing attitudes – personally and on a broader social level. We will build on previous LEAD Network events and bring together experts from the industry, from commerce and society. Our goal: to specify what needs to change to make real progress.

The event will take place on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Gesellschaftshaus in the Palmengarten in Frankfurt.

Our hosts for the different workshops include Veronika Pountcheva (Metro), Dr. Virginia Bastian (Nestlé), Carsten Matthäus (Süddeutsche Zeitung), Janne Müller-Wieland (German hockey player), Dr. Isabelle Kürschner (Catalyst) and Astrid Teckentrup (P&G).
